Sutter County Open House To Review Traffic Safety Alternatives At 99 & Oswald Sutter County Development Services has hired a consulting firm to develop alternatives to improve traffic safety south of Yuba City at the intersection of Oswald Road and Highway 99, which has seen an increase in both truck traffic and vehicle accidents. Part of the process is to seek public input about three alternatives: A $2-4 million stop light A $10-12 million roundabout A $40-50 million interchange With this information, Sutter County will make a recommendation to the California Department of Transportation. According to both government and private sector research, roundabouts provide more safety for drivers than stoplights on a high-speed corridor. However, they are uncommon and unfamiliar to many drivers, and a new concept in our community. We would like your input on each of the alternatives. This rendering provides a preliminary concept of what a roundabout at Orwald Road and Highway 99 would look like from the air. (The rectangular white block sepresents where a drainage basin could be located) This and other atematives will be available for review at an open house this Thursday.
