Sutter County Invites Comments on their 2021 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Update! HELP YOUR COMMUNITY BE HAZARD-READY! Sutter County, the Cities of Yuba City and Live Oak, and several special districts are developing an update their 2013 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). Floods, drought, wildfires, and severe weather are just a few of the hazards of concern to the Sutter County Planning Area. While natural hazards such as these cannot be prevented, an LHMP forms the foundation fora community's long-termstrategytoreduce disasterlosses by breaking the repeated cycle of disaster damage and reconstruction. Additionally, communities with a FEMA-approved LHMP are eligible to apply for both pre- and post-disaster mitigation grant funding and for lower costs of flood insurance to residents through the National Flood Insurance Program's (NFIP), Community Rating System (CRS). Public Review Draft: A Public Review Draft of the 2021 LHMP Update is available online (pdf format) at: https://www.suttercounty.org/doc/government/ depts/cao/em/hazard_mitigation.
