Our District utilizes an aerial photography contractor to identify green pools. The photos are then used by staff to direct them where mosquitoes may be breeding. Pool owners and neighbors are encouraged to report green swimming pools. There is no charge, fee, or penalty. District staff is trained to treat mosquito- producing pools quickly and safely. You can still get your pool ready for swimming later. Gambusia affinis Mosquitofish Gambusia affinis, also known as "mosquitofish", are used in many parts of the world to control mosquito larvae. Most of our mosquitofish are used in agricultural sources such as rice fields. Residents of the District are welcome to pick up mosquitotish, free of charge, for stocking backyard sources. The fish can be picked up at 701 Bogue Road, Yuba City between the hours of 7.00-3:30 PM. THE 4D's MOSQUITO S PROTECTION Mosquito Spraying When disease-transmitting mosquitoes DRESS DEFEND accumulate in our towns, human disease risk increases. To reduce this risk, town spraying typically starts in late June and agricultural aerial spraying in mid-June.
