Our District utlizes an aerial photographtry contractor to identify green pools. The photos are then used by statf to direct them where mosquitoes may be breeding. Pool owners and neighbors are encouraged to report green swimming pools. There is no charge, fee, or penalty. District staff is trained to treat mosquito- producing pools quickly and safely. You can stil pet your pool ready for swimming later Gambusia affinis Mosquitofish Gambusia affinis, also known as "mosquitofish", are a proven biological control tool. We raise and plant thousands of pounds of mosquitofish in agricultural sources such as ricefields. Residents of the District are welcome to pick up mosquitofish, free of charge, for stocking their own backyard sources. The fish can be picked up at 701 Bogue Road, Yuba City, M-F between the hours of 7:00-3:30 PM. THE 4 D's MOSQUITO Are You Growing Mosquitoes? It only takes a tiny amount of water that sits for several days to breed hundreds or thousands of new mosquitoes. It's an excellent idea to check your yard regularly throughout the season for standing water. Places that hold rainwater or catch imrigation water make perfect breeding sites.
