New ROP Classes for 2019-2020 School Year By Tom Reusser Sutter County Superintendent Throughout my twenty-three years in education, my philosophy has always been to do what is in the best interest of students. As Sutter County Superintendent of Schools, my philosophy continues as I create programs for our students throughout the county. We will have four new ROP/Adult Education s available in the upcoming 2 019- rse cou 2020 school year. They are: Hospitality Management, Advanced Manufacturing 1 and 2, Nursing Assistant and Dental Assisting. These courses will provide more opportunities for young people to become trained in order to work in our businesses within our community The first three listed, Hospitality Management, Advanced Manufacturing and Nursing Assistant will be available for our high school students. Dental Assisting will be provided to our young adult students. Hospitality Management is a 300 hour course that teaches aspiring restaurant managers about the preparation and delivery of foods and services in a commercial kitchen setting. Topics include restaurant administration, accounting, human resources, and marketing Advanced Manufacturing 1 and 2 make up the Advanced Manufacturing Pathway. Topics for these two courses include: careers in manufacturing, industrial afety, 2D modeling, measurement, as metal arce welding, and plasma arc cutting- Nursing Assistant is a 300 hour course designed to prepare students for employment as a nurse assistant in a ety of settings. Students will learn patient care, observation, and communication skills with an emphasis on caring for the geriatric resident in a long-term care facility.
