Paid Advertisement ScsoS Special Education Department Superintendent Tom Reusser Sutter County Superintendent of Schools I am happy to report that Sutter County Superintendent of Schools Special Education Department continues to provide exceptional special education related services to the 13 school districts within Sutter County for students from birth to age 22 years. The Special Education Department consists of approximately 170 staff members, located throughout Sutter County provid to students and families. support Our Sutter County Infant Program supports children ages 0-3 who have disabilities such as vision, hearing and orthopedic impairments as well as autism, Down's Syndrome, and prematurity. Our staff for this program provide in home support to families of these students and connect the families to vital resources such as Family Soup and California Children's Services. Currently, this program serves 40 children in both Sutter and Yuba Counties. In addition to providing specialized academic instruction, speech and language, and school psychologist services to the eleven smaller districts in Sutter County, Sutter County serves approximately 300 students, in 30 classes, on 13 sites, throughout Sutter County. These 300 students require specialized instruction in self-contained classes to accommodate their special needs. The self-contained classrooms include meaningful instruction that focuses on utilizing research based instructional strategies, curriculum, and interventions in the areas of: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Multiple Disability. Severe Disability, Adult Transition, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Itinerant Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Non-Categorical and Support Services. We serve students up through age 22. When students earn a certificate of completion from high school instead of a regular high school diploma, we provide an adult transition program which teaches students life and job skills.
