In the summer of 2019, James and his crew supported East Nicolaus High School with their culinary arts classroom remodel. The SCSOS FMOF Department cut their project costs in half. Superintendent Mark Beebe stated that when he began his tenure at the school two years ago, there were several projects that had been started, but not completed. He collaborated with Director James Peters and was able to prioritize the projects and begin the culinary arts classroom remodel. Superintendent Beebe stated that he enjoyed working with James and his crew on this project because James was supportive, conscientious with timelines and not afraid to tell him what would best serve the district. The culinary arts classroom remodel required the gutting of all outdated fixtures the power and plumbing to today's standards of efficiency, and updating the kitchenette counters to stainless and cabinets, revamping steel. This provided a learning space for the culinary arts students to earn their Serve-Safe Certification. SCSOS modernizations are based upon a deferred maintenance agenda which is the act of long term planning and saving to ensure that our facilities stay modern, safe and efficient. Current and upcoming projects for SCSOS FMOF include: Completed the modernization of one of our relocatable buildings and moved our SCSOS SELPA Program into the space Modernization of Human Resources and the front Lobby of the Klamath building Thorough inspection and creation of preventive routine and deferred maintenance tasks for Nuestro Elementary School Director James Peters enjoys supporting districts with their facility needs.
