Paid Advertisement 2019 Year in Review SCSOS CTE/ROP Superintendent Tom Reusser Sutter County Superintendent of Schools The SCSOS CTE/ROP (Career Technical Education/Regional Occupation Program) Department has had a year filled with incredible opportunities for the students of the tri county area: Colusa, Sutter, Yuba. Here are the highlights: CTE/ROP secured the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant for $980,000 and the K-12 Strong Work Force Grant for $185,000. 8 new ROP classes were started in Manufacturing, Culinary and CNA: 2 at Feather River Academy, 2 at Live Oak High School, 2 at Sutter High School and 2 at Sutter County One Stop. 100 new students were served in 2019. SCSOS CTE/ROP revamped kitchen sites and facilities and updated equipment to enhance the culinary pathway. SCSOS CTE/ROP increased work-based opportunities for high school students by providing internships at local businesses. SCSOS CTE/ROP hosted its Career Fair for middle school students within the tri-county area. Almost all middle schools in Sutter and Yuba Counties attended: 2000 + students. SCSOS CTE/ROP hosted the Welding Wars; an opportunity for the area high schools to get together and compete by building a BBQ and showcasing their welding art. Purchased new advanced culinary trailer for use in the culinary pathway for high schools in the tri-county area. Purchased new advancedmanufacturing trailer for use in the manufacturing pathway for high schools in the tri-county area. Provided a Virtual Job Shadow Computer Program for all middle school students to expose our middle school students to a variety of careers. I am proud of all that SCSOS has accomplished through our CTE/ROP Program and I look forward to implementing more career opportunities for our students in the future.
