Paid Advertisement Sutter County Adult Education ESL Program By Tom Reusser Sutter County Superintendent of Schools Thirty-three students enrolled in Sutter County Superintendent of Schools Adult Education English Second Language (ESL) Program recently completed medical CPR and first aid training. During this course, ESL students learned: Basic human anatomy Context and language of medicine Hands-on skills required for CNA work Many of the students that completed their certifications plan one enrolling in the Certified Nursing Assistant program at the Sutter County One-Stop. Sutter County Superintendent Schools Adult Education partners with of the Sutter County One-Stop,, Yuba County One-Stop, Yuba Community College, and the Yuba County Office of Education to deliver Vocational ESL programs that teach English through a vocation. ESL students research and learn about careers through online programs and interactive discussions. Once students acquire interest and basic skills, they are directed into a VESL program of their choice. Planned VESL offerings for the 2019-2020 school year include: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); Culinary Management; Advanced Manufacturing; Welding: Auto Mechanics; Agricultural Mechanics and Maintenance; Auto Body Repair; Business Management, Robotics and Coding, and Early Childhood Education. All courses include opportunities for students to earn industry-based certifications and licenses. Courses are typically 8-12 weeks in length and are offered at multiple times and locations throughout the Yuba-Sutter region.
