Paid Advertisement A Message from Superintendent Tom Reusser Superintendent Tom Reusser Sutter County Superintendent of Schools Before we can consider reopening our schools for in person instruction, we must remain in the red tier for two weeks without reverting back into the purple tier. Yuba County moved to the red tier on Tuesday, October 6 and Sutter County moved into the red tier on Tuesday, October 13. Provided Sutter County remains in the red tier for two weeks, school districts can then consider reopening for in person learning on October 27 at the earliest. Several of our elementary schools applied for a waiver and thus far, we have five schools that have been approved to reopen: Marcum-llinois, Winship-Robbins, Twin Rivers Charter School, Franklin and Yuba City Charter School. These schools have reopened earlier in October with stringent safety protocols in place which include facial coverings, social distancing and classroom pods. Dr. Luu, our Bi-County Health Officer, strongly recommends that schools use a phase-in approach; elementary returning first, then middle school, then finally high school. Each district is different, of course, but she recommends that even our high school districts implement a phase in plan. Sutter Union High School hopes to bring their students back on campus by the last week in October using a hybrid model. SUHS will bring back 25% of its students, then 50% and 75% until finally all students will be on campus for in person instruction. They will continue to use Edgenuity Curriculum for both in person and distance learning, should they have students who would like to continue online. As our Sutter County Schools bring our students back for in person instruction, you can be sure that our schools have student and staff safety as their number one priority. If you have any questions regarding school reopenings, feel free to reach out to your school district either via email, website or phone. If you have any questions or concerns that this office can address, please feel fre to contact me at (530) 822-2900. We are Sutter County Schools. Doing What's Best for Kids Paid for by Sutter Co.
